Exhuberant garden with a touch of drama, mixed media painting
The situation in the world is dire : the rise of populism, fake news and manipulation, war, women’s rights shrinking, climate warming…
To keep sane, I cook, garden, take care of my family and paint feverishly flowers and gardens.
I began painting over a nice little garden inspiring a feeling of cosiness.
After much scratching, tearing and adding layers and layers of painting, I got a luscious little garden and it did not work.
It required a touch of drama. A black dahlia quite in the middle. Which is not really a black dahlia but a dark purple cosmos.
The black dahlia is a dark book written by James Ellroy about the gruesome murder of a young woman in 1947 in Los Angeles. Brian de Palma made a movie based on that book.
Mixed media painting on cardboard. 20x30cm
