Mixed media painting, deposition from the cross, women and grief, 97×146 cm

This painting, in my mind, is before everything a painting about feminity.
To what depths of grief and desolation love can take us, be it the love of a mother for her son and of a woman for a man.
I began this painting years ago and let it rest and. As I was working on the subject of feminity and had restored the weeping woman who is the model for Mary Magdalene, I decided to finish it.

And, strange coincidence, I began that work just before Easter. So I decided that it had to be finished today even if the descent of the cross takes place on Easter Friday.

Cette peinture, dans mon esprit, traite avant tout de la féminité.
Jusqu’à quelles profondeurs de chagrin et de désolation l’amour peut nous emmener, qu’il soit l’amour d’une mère pour son fils ou d’une femme pour un homme.
J’ai commencé à peindre ce tableau il y a plusieurs années et je l’ai laissé de côté. Comme je travaillais sur le sujet de la féminité et avait restauré la femme qui pleure qui est le modèle de Marie Madeleine, j’ai décidé de la finir.

Et, étrange coïncidence, j’ai commencé ce travail juste avant Pâques. Alors j’ai décidé qu’il devait être fini aujourd’hui, même si la descente de croix a lieu le Vendredi de Pâques.
